May 31, 2006

Today's entry is more of a roll-up than a 'day by day' entry.  Several things have happened since the 8th (all of them good).

No, you aren't experiencing double-vision.  There are two walls looking pretty much the same.  As I've mentioned earlier, the original contractor made the foundation too small, so we needed to add an extension 5' farther out.  Has too look the same as the old wall, since the design hasn't changed.

The grey area is 'damp proofing' which may or may not be necessary.  We're a ways above any underground moisture, but it was cheap insurance.  The main reason we had it done was for the big retaining wall.

No, your eyes are playing tricks on you.  They are different heights.  It won't matter though, because the top of the wall is under the upper slab anyways.

Excavation has started today, so I should have some more shots tomorrow.  Our steel company finally called, and we have our first steel delay.  I expected it, but I'm hoping they won't delay it too long.  Should find out tomorrow.
