Here you can see that some of the stiffener/shear-clip assemblies are riveted together, and I'm about to do the set that's pulled apart.  It's not as big a deal on the lower sets, but on the upper sets you have to make sure the stiffener is under the shear clip before you rivet the stiffeners together.  There's not enough give to be able to move it behind afterwards.  Trust me.

Ahh, the face of a happy worker!  Not really, but I think that's because he found out his sister had better grades than him or something.  Still, he was willing to help out, so kudos to him.

Sorry about the out of focus portion of the shot.  Notice the rivets?  They're all blind rivets.  Those of you that have gotten to this stage are probably saying "whoa!  Those aren't all supposed to be blind!".  Correctomundo.  For some reason (I don't have a clue why) I riveted this early, and so didn't notice that the type changed until after it was together.  Yes, yes, I did drill the booboo's out and put the proper rivets in.

I forgot the name of this sucker (CCS?) but it takes the place of the VERY difficult to do rivet at the tail end of the R-1004 rib.  Lots easier to do this one, let me tell you.  It sticks up because there isn't enough room to set it all the way in.  You have to squeeze a little, push down, lather, rinse, repeat, until it's snug and tight.

Here it is in place.  I figure I'll be filling in the hole when I get to the painting phase of the project.

The R-1002 spar is now in positin, and ready to be riveted into place.

First, the shear clips get riveted with LP4-3 (never remember the actual #'s) blind rivets.  It surprised me how many blind rivets got used on this piece o' plane.

Wider angle shot showing all the clips riveted to the spar.

4 different types of rivets are used riveting the R-1004 rib to the R-1002 spar.  2 types of blinds on the top row, with 2 426's and 3 470's on the bottom.
