June 4, 2004

A bit fuzzy, but these are two spar attachment brackets after being cut to size

Notice anything?  The differences aren't a matter of perspective...when I cut the bracket on the right I cut it wrong and so I didn't have the 'lobe' on the base.  Unfortunately, Van's doesn't give you enough material to make a third bracket, so I was dead in the water until I get some replacement stock.  I ended up ordering a piece from Van's (not cheap anywhere I look, but I hate that $4 handling charge of theirs).  Probably be in late next week.

Since I'm dead in the water on the brackets, I'm skipping ahead to the spar caps and the front spar.  Pictured above is the rear spar, which will go on the parts shelf momentarily.

These suckers have a quite a bow...

...so I clamped them together so my cut lines would be straight.

The goal here is to remove enough material that the notches are completely removed.

Here's one of them after the cut.
