February 7, 2004

Couple of things have been happening since the last update on January 25, 2004.  First, food poisoning.  Don't try that at home, it sucks.  Second, house guests.  The gal used to work at Boeing on the line and gave me a big 'thumbs-up', which felt good!  Third, business trips.  They take time, but one good thing was that I finally managed to squeeze in a trip to Van's!  Met Ken (Van was out of town), toured the factory, and sat in my future airplane.  Talk about motivation!  Seeing the interior started giving me ideas.  I'm wondering if a center console (ala Cirrus SR22) will work...and perhaps an arm rest.  The tunnel down the middle seems to make this stuff a natural.  Oh well, worry about that when I get to the fuselage.  On to building!

Here's a picture of the gun & accessories that I won on ebay.  I got a good deal on it, so I'm happy.  I'll be using it for the first time when I get around to sealing the trailing edge of the rudder.

The stiffener/shear-clip assemblies are cleco'd to the spar

Counter-balance rib celco'd on

Finally got the rest of the VS rivets shot!  After dinner I pried his fingers off the computers keyboard and forced him to come down and shoot rivets.  The new air pressure setting is working out much better!  He got off a few squeezes before it 'tired' him out.  When I reminded him that we would have been doing it with the manual squeezer if I hadn't talked his mother into the pneumatic, he appreciated the squeezer that much more.

For those of you with 13 year-olds, this look should be familiar...
