February 26, 2004

No pictures to show for today, I forgot to bring the camera down to the shop.

I got the stiffeners back-riveted to the other rudder skin.

I then riveted the both sides of the top rib to the skins

Last, I riveted the bottom rib to the left(?) skin (whichever one the plans said, I can't remember right now).

I ran into a problem on the final rivet near the trailing edge.  None of my squeezers or anything else will fit, so I used a tip off of the experimental aero website (I'll try to remember to post a link up) and used the end of a chisel to do the back-riveting.  It worked okay, except that the factory head sticks up the tiniest amount on one side.  I'm trying to decide how to deal with this.  Is this what a rivet shaver is for?  Drill it out and try again?  Buy a thin nose/no hole yoke?
